I have to admit I was a little nervous about this assignment. I was afraid of being able to communicate with people outside the United States because of language barriers. I did however choose to make contact with someone in South Africa. I emailed (2) two people. One at the UNICEF in South Africa and the other was at an Early Childhood Conference in South Africa. I am excited now about what I could possible learn!!!!
I chose to use The National Association for the Education of Young Children
http://www.naeyc.org/ website for exploring. I like it because they have so much information from all over. I really am looking forward to getting information from them. I especially like that they have different trainings that are offered listed on their site for a variety of different issues. This is going to be great!!!!!!
I can't believe somebody actually responded!!! I figured they would ignore me!!!
This is the information I have found out so far from my resources in South Africa.

Deborah,
ReplyDeleteI had some of same reservations about the assignment as you. I felt intimidated by the assignment. I also felt like I was going to be ignored. I haven't heard back yet but have hope after finding out you and some of our colleagues have had success.
Hi Deborah,
ReplyDeleteSeveral times throughout our courses, I have felt some apprehension at stepping outside of my comfort zone. I can definitely understand your feeling of nervousness in this particular assignment. I am also encouraged that you have heard back. I emailed several countries via UNICEF. I heard back from Romania, but only with some basic information and not a contact to dialogue with during this course. I hope to establish a contact soon.
I am excited to learn more about Early Childhood in South Africa from you!!
Well it seems we all have the same fears. I too am still waiting for any of the folks to email me back but did at least find one through a personal contact. It is so very interesting to see that most professionals from other countries can speak more than one language. It makes me feel a bit lazy!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I am not alone with my reservations about this assigment. It is refreshing to know that you have established contact! I am still waiting for responses to my e-mails. I can't wait to follow your blog to hear about the connection you made.
